Florida Keys Boat Rental Bad Weather Policy

Safety First: Your Fun Awaits When the Sun Shines!

The Florida Keys are a boater’s paradise, but Mother Nature can sometimes throw a curveball. To ensure your safety and a great experience, here’s our bad weather policy:

Understanding “Bad Weather”

Not all bad weather means cancelling your boat trip. We monitor various factors, including:

  • High winds: Sustained winds exceeding 20 knots (23 mph) can create choppy waters and unsafe conditions.
  • Seas: Rough seas with waves exceeding 3 feet can make boating uncomfortable and potentially dangerous.
  • Thunderstorms: Lightning strikes are a serious hazard on the water. We will cancel trips if thunderstorms are imminent or in the area.
  • Tropical weather: We closely monitor tropical storms and hurricanes. Rentals will be cancelled if the National Hurricane Center issues a tropical storm warning or hurricane watch for the Florida Keys.

Cancellation and Rescheduling:

  • We will proactively contact you: If we anticipate needing to cancel your trip due to bad weather, we will reach out as soon as possible, ideally at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Full refund or reschedule: In case of cancellation due to bad weather on our end, you will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule your trip for a later date with no change fees.

Tips for Planning Your Boat Trip:

  • Check the forecast: Keep an eye on the marine weather forecast in the days leading up to your trip. Resources like NOAA Marine Weather and Windy.com offer detailed forecasts.
  • Be flexible: Consider having backup plans or activities in case your boat trip needs to be rescheduled.
  • Pack for the elements: Always bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and rain gear, even if the forecast looks sunny.
  • Ask us: If you have any questions or concerns about the weather or our policy, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: Our goal is to ensure your safety and enjoyment on the water. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in following our bad weather policy.
